The Power of Introverts

As a card-carrying introvert myself this is just the kind of affirmation that I need! It’s something I could have done with when I was growing up. I followed up on her definition of shyness being a fear of social judgement, and introversion being the need to spend time alone and I found it interesting how she talks about the different combinations of anxious, calm, introvert and extrovert:

“Bill Gates is quiet and bookish, but apparently unfazed by others’ opinions of him: he’s an introvert, but not shy.

Barbra Streisand has an outgoing, larger than life personality, but a paralyzing case of stage fright: she’s a shy extrovert.”

It also ties in nicely with the one I watched yesterday about the danger of judgements and how we all have something to contribute, and how this kind of education can save people the pain of judging themselves and feeling they don’t come up to the mark because “no, I don’t want to go to the pub, I like that you ask and hopefully you’ll keep on asking but no I probably won’t want to go very often”.
